Colin de Mowbray

"Colin de Mowbray was a unique character in the sailing world whose boundless enthusiasm infected everyone he met. As a father he continually encouraged us to do more, look further, try new challenges, push our boundaries…. and I know he did the same for the thousands of people he met in the course of his navy and sailing careers. Wether riding a bike down a flight of stairs, swimming across freezing lakes or sailing the oceans, he would encourage and support you the whole way, giving you the confidence to do what you feared. We lost him in 2010, but are delighted that Cat Zero are continuing the legacy through the Colin de Mowbray Sailing Scholarship, a cause very close to his heart."

The Colin de Mowbray Sailing Scholarship

The Colin de Mowbray Sailing Scholarship was set up in 2010 to encourage and support young people to take up a career in sailing.

Sam Hodgkinson was the first young person to benefit from the Colin de Mowbray Sailing Scholarship, having been a participant on one of the original CatZero programmes.

Sam sailed in a professional role on board CatZero as First Mate for two years and is now qualified to Yachtmaster Ocean with commercial endorsement.

He has now moved on to gain further experience in the sailing industry. CatZero is looking to appoint a new trainee in the near future.
