TWO members of the CatZero team ventured down to the capital on Tuesday, May 21, where they visited with the three funders who are solid supporters of our participants and programmes.
The pair first stopped at the rather grand Trinity House, where the Trinity House Maritime Charity is based, to meet Grants Manager, Vikki Muir. The charity is “dedicated to safeguarding shipping and seafarers, providing education, support and welfare to the seafaring” community.
Trinity donated £9k towards new batteries on the boat, and to fund three places on any of CatZero’s employability programmes.
Next stop, Maria and Pete visited Fisheries Programme Manager, Dr Eleanor Adamson, from the 750-year-old Fishmongers’ Company, long-standing supporters of CatZero and an organisation very familiar with geographical areas and societal needs across the Humber. The Fishmongers’ regularly supports our three-day seafood programme and have recently donated a further £20k towards this, and £20k for core costs.
Finally, the team had been invited to London by the Clothworkers’ Foundation, where they met with Clothworkers’ CEO Jenny North. The organisation supports people and communities who face disadvantage and marginalisation and welcomed further 250 funding recipients to the London event.
The Clothworkers’ Foundation gave CatZero £6k towards IT equipment, which is being used by participants who visit the Hull office for employability programmes.
Pete commented: “It was a fantastic, whistle-stop day, and a great opportunity to not only network but also put names to faces.
“We made some great contacts and although the trip was at the invite of the Clothworkers’, we took the opportunity to visit Fishmongers’ and Trinity House to share how their funds were being used, and to maintain solid relationships.
“Maria was representing the Full Families programmes across the Humber, and she was able to share details of the programme and say thank you in person to people for their continued support.”
