Information collected by us
To enable you to participate with CatZero, we will collect personal information from you which depending on the activity you are undertaking with us, may include your:
- Name, address and contact details
- Details of your next of kin
- Health, medical history and GP details; and, for programme participants only
- Education and training history
- Employment status & history
- Living arrangements
- Benefits situation
- Throughout the programme, you may also provide us with more sensitive information concerning personal matters which are preventing you from moving forward with your life.
Information collected from other sources (programme participants only)
We may also obtain personal information from other sources, including:
- Connexions
- JobCentre Plus
- Education and training providers
- Past employers
- Relatives
- Other support agencies and Other third parties
The type of personal information we collect from other sources will vary depending on the support you require from CatZero and your instructions but may include the information listed above under the heading “Information collected by us”.
Why we use your personal information (the purpose)
Sailing and Programme Participants
We use your personal information to register you as a crew member on board CatZero, ensure your safety and the safety of others and provide support staff with the relevant information should an incident occur which needs remedial action.
Programme Participants only
We use your personal information for the provision of supporting you throughout the programme. This includes advising you and, with permission, acting on your behalf to move into education, employment or training.

With your consent, we may share your personal information with other third parties for the purposes of supporting you throughout the programme and to help you move into education, employment or training, including:
- Connexions
- JobCentre Plus
- Education and training providers
- Relatives
- Other support agencies and Other third parties
How long your personal information will be kept
We will not usually share your personal information with any other third party without your consent.
CatZero holds a retention document which is available to see upon request.
In summary:
Information on programme participants will be held for up to three years with some information being destroyed much quicker.
Information on those participating in a sail will be held for the duration of that sailing season (no more than 9 months).
We will ask all individuals for permission to retain their contact details in order to continues to keep them information about CatZero and events. This information is then held until you choose to unsubscribe.
YOUR RIGHTS
Under the General Data Protection Regulation you have a number of important rights free of charge. In summary, those include rights to:
- fair processing of information and transparency over how we use your personal information
- access to your personal information and to certain other supplementary information that this Privacy Notice is already designed to address
- require us to correct any mistakes in your information which we hold
- require the erasure of personal information concerning you in certain situations
- receive the personal information concerning you which you have provided to us, in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format and have the right to transmit those data to a third party in certain situations

- object to decisions being taken by automated means which produce legal effects concerning you or similarly significantly affect you
- object in certain other situations to our continued processing of your personal information
- otherwise restrict our processing of your personal information in certain circumstances

KEEPING YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION SECURE
We have appropriate security measures in place to prevent personal information from being accidentally lost, or used or accessed in an unauthorised way. We limit access to your personal information to those who have a genuine business need to know it. Those processing your information will do so only in an authorised manner and are subject to a duty of confidentiality.
We also have procedures in place to deal with any suspected data security breach. We will notify you and any applicable regulator of a suspected data security breach where we are legally required to do so.

We hope that we can resolve any query or concern you raise about our use of your information. However, if this is not possible the General Data Protection Regulation also gives you the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
