SEVERAL much-coveted places have become available on a popular veterans’ programme, and anyone who has served in the Armed Forces can apply!
CatZero is a Humber-wide charity, well known for its alternative approach to delivering lasting personal change for participants, from children, families, and young people to adults, and those who have previously served in the Army, RAF, Navy, or Reserves. The organisation is currently recruiting onto its veterans’ programme, with just 14 highly sought-after places on offer.
The programme is aimed at veterans struggling with mental health, social isolation, or those lacking in confidence, although there may be interested veterans who need a little encouragement to get back on track, whether that is into work or education.
Pete Tighe, CatZero’s Programme Manager, said: “CatZero offers something a bit different, not only utilising the charity’s 72-ft Challenge yacht to encourage confidence-building but we also try to give something back to the community through conservation work, for example. We also host physical activities, such as days out on Welton Waters Adventure Centre, hill-walking and treks, and indoor rock climbing.
“Each person will receive a plan tailored to their individual needs, so that we are able to support them to achieve their individual goals and offer them support to overcome any personal challenges. We build the programme entirely around them and what their hopes are for the future.”
There are immediate starts on the Veterans’ Programme and interested people can find out how they can get involved by heading to the CatZero yacht, moored at Hull Marina, on October 4, between 12 and 5pm. Staff will be on hand to explain not only how the yacht plays its part across the charity, but what other aspects participants can expect from joining the programme.
With funding for the programme from the Veterans’ Foundation, the CatZero team offers the chance for people to try new challenges, and to meet other veterans. They can help with self-belief and motivation and support interested participants into accredited qualifications relevant to potential employment.
For those interested in taking part, head to the CatZero yacht, moored near Humber Street, Hull Marina, on October 4, from noon until 5pm, visit the website at www.catzero.org for more information, or visit 01482 333303.
